Jim Dowling Uilleann Pipe & Trad Festival

Glengarriff is the perfect place for one of the great music festivals of Ireland – the Jim Dowling Uilleann Pipe & Trad Festival 2018 to be held from the 21st to the 24th of June. The small village of 800 people provides a king sized welcome to musicians and music lovers alike for concerts, sessions, workshops, exhibitions and lectures.

Glengarriff, on the Wild Atlantic Way is the gateway to the Beara Peninsula with its fabulous undiscovered, magnificent scenery. As the Irish Independent wrote (29th of April 2017)  “Beara offers all of the wonder (of the Ring of Kerry) with less traffic”. Why not plan now for a break away in June with magnificent music in the magnificent setting of Glengarriff.

The transformation of Glengarriff on June 21st - 24th - For four glorious days in June, Glengarriff will be transformed into the centre of a great musical party. The town’s many wonderful pubs and restaurants, the town hall, even Garinish Island itself will provide a plethora of stages for some of the finest Uilleann pipers and traditional musicians from Ireland and abroad.

Sharon Shannon will headline the festival with a concert in Eccles Hotel on Friday June 22nd at 8pm, tickets available from Jim Dowling Festival Page. Among the many other superb acts; Iarla O'Lionaird, Mick O'Brien, Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh and Steve Cooney. Steve will be playing at The Big Blowout concert with Martin Hayes, David Power and Paddy Keenan, as well as taking part in sessions around Glengarriff.

With so many wonderful performances scheduled, the 6th Jim Dowling Uilleann Pipe and Trad Festival in Glengarriff is bound to be the best yet.
