Come explore our Greenway Getaway and discover the Beara Way, a stunning long distance walking trail in Counties Cork and Kerry, at approximately 184 km (114 miles) long. The walking route officially begins and ends in our picturesque town of Glengarriff, Co. Cork but you can join the trail at any number of points along its length as it skirts the coastline following alongside the scenic Wild Atlantic Way route!
If it’s a nature walk you are after the Glengarriff Nature Reserve is spectacular, with the woods nestled in the sheltered glen opening out into Glengarriff Harbour. Above the woods rise the Caha Mountains, with their dramatic layers of sheer rock. Don’t forget to bring a picnic lunch with you!
There’s nothing like a dip in the Atlantic to make you feel alive. Explore the Blue Pool, a magical harbour hidden in this beautiful area of seaside woodland, which has been extensively developed, is set in the heart of the village. It is the nearest walking area to the village and has many trails and walkways through an idyllic forested area with views of the harbour that are well worth exploring. If you pass beyond the Blue Pool itself you reach an area referred to as ‘The Point’ where there is a diving board and a beautiful sun trapped bathing area as well as a pontoon from which to swim off.
Teeming with exotic plants, thanks to the warm waters that surround it, a short boat trip from the village pier will transport you to magical Garnish Island is a must see!
