As soon as you hit Glengarriff, it’s there overlooking the bay and plain for all to see and therefore not that easy to get a room in peak seasons.
It is fantastic to see such tradition continuing at The Eccles and with it, all the quirkiness that I loved. You’ll see what I mean when you stay there. Our bedroom 318 was perfect, bright with great views of the harbour, comfy bed, spotless bathroom with a great shower. The jewel in the crown here is the local staff in the bar and dining room. They’re either really genuine people or else the training is great – or perhaps a bit of both! We looked at the Spa wing for a future visit and it is definitely a hidden gem. A number of very well appointed treatment rooms lead to a secret outdoor deck with jacuzzi. Really good lunch in the bar when we arrived and an equally great three course dinner that evening, the freshest of seafood prepared in very interesting and unique ways. Thank you chef and team. Breakfast the next morning was of the same standard and kept us going ’til 5.
What more could you ask for?

Beautiful hotel I’ve always loved to visit.
Cannot wait to have our father’s BIG birthday here in the next short while. Keep up the great work. The interaction with staff in the lead up has been second to none!

We stayed in Eccles in November for our wedding reception. We stayed for 2 nights and on both days/nights we received the best service, the best professionalism and super friendly staff. Our wedding went without hiccups and the staff were just amazing. We had a great wedding and a great weekend in Eccles – can’t wait to go back. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted but even better!

I recently went to the spa and was looked after by Annemarie. I got the most fabulous full-body massage. She was very professional, made me feel very comfortable and it was so relaxing. I loved using the hot tubs, sauna and seaweed baths. The hotel has a very friendly staff.

I recently stayed at the Eccles at the end of August for a work trip. We had been on the road for two weeks and stayed in many properties in that time from Donegal to Kerry with varying levels of service. I was so impressed, however, with the young staff at this hotel. The young women working in the bar and terrace were competent, engaging and welcoming. I appreciate how difficult it is to attract, train and retain good staff in the hospitality sector these days. To meet with so many young confident and welcoming local staff at this hotel was a pleasant surprise and something that is all too uncommon these days.

Spa at the Eccles Hotel has exceptional standards of customer care that above all feels genuine, incredible levels of training, and finely honed attention to detail. The staff have a passion for their job that is noted from the moment you arrive at the spa. I chose Mindful Dreams massage. The massage started with a grounding ritual foot bath and then the massage commenced; every knot was eased out, tension smoothed away leaving with a mini facial and scalp massage that I was drifting in and out of a lovely tranquil place. Thank you so much, it was incredible. I also recommend staying in the Eccles as the hotel has undergone a beautiful refurbishment. The food is exquisite and I recommend Chef Eddie Attwell seven-course tasting menu with local seasonal produce, foraged foods, hotel-grown herbs and vegetables the perfect combination after the spa.

I stayed there while touring through southwest Ireland. The hotel has an atmosphere of quiet dignity. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. The food is exceptional. Imagine my surprise at breakfast to discover the president of Ireland. The location of this place is excellent, and it’s just on the outskirts of the charming village Glengariff. Great getaway

Went for a couples spa treatment and seaweed bath, complimentary use of hot tubs and sauna and lunch (divine) was included. Had the tasting menu for dinner that evening and all in all it was a wonderful experience. The staff were professional and attentive but not in your face. The view from the hot tub and seaweed bath (both rooftops outdoors) was stunning. The dinner was quite simply wonderful, with 7 courses of gastronomic excellence, Edward Atwell is up there with the best, local ingredients showcased at their best.We will definitely be back.
